This course will provide a fundamental understanding of the threat of bioterrorism and the public health challenges resulting from this threat. Participants will be introduced to: biological warfare and biological terrorism; the historical use of biological agents as warfare agents; the nature and extent of the threat of biological terrorism; factors that effect dissemination of biological agents; core public health responsibilities in responding to a bioterrorism incident; and factors that affect a public health response to a bioterrorist event.
