COURSE DESCRIPTION The understanding of health outcomes in the population relies on the use of statistical tools that allow scientists and health professional to derive conclusions and generalization of observed phenomena. This course provides a general overview of concepts and topics on the field of Biostatistics and demonstrates the application of these concepts to the investigation and understanding of health-related outcomes in the population. The course has been designed with a comprehensive, descriptive and conceptual framework, avoiding the use of formulas and mathematical derivations. The applications of the concepts and examples presented throughout the course are related to the study of obesity and its co-morbidities. Although some examples have been obtained from scientifically published data, others are completely fictional.
