Emergency Preparedness Symposium

UAB Emergency Preparedness and Community Mitigation Symposium Proceedings

December 6, 2007, Birmingham, Alabama

The South Central Center for Public Health Preparedness (SCCPHP) and the Center for Emerging Infections and Emergency Preparedness (CEIEP) partnered to host a one-day symposium to discuss preparedness activities at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and across Alabama. This event presented current activities both within the university and throughout the state relating to community preparedness, surge capacity, preparedness education and training, risk communication and other preparedness initiatives.

The symposium included presentations and posters that provided information relevant to emergency preparedness activities in Alabama. This event aimed to increase awareness of the existing resources available within UAB and throughout the state. It also provided a networking opportunity for practice and academic partners to establish collaborations that bridge the gap between academia and emergency preparedness, response and recovery operations to ultimately enhance the level of preparedness within the state.
